Correction:
The tab title should be preceded with the tab number, which costs a bit of 
space on the tab bar.

In addition:
In opera, the tabs are numbered too and can be accessed simply with 1, 2, etc. 
(without any modifiers) and the numbers are not displayed on the tabs. This 
approach only works when focus is not in a text area.

For konqueror, an elegant approach would be to only display the tab numbers 
when the alt key is pressed. While the alt key is held down, the tab icon 
would change into the tab number.
