I do, simply because I often find things that I need a good graphics editor 
for.  Such as GUI elements like pixmaps. ;)

If I understand the original e-mail correctly, the GTK+ support wasn't a 
dependency.  It was something that would be selected only if GTK+ was already 
installed, but the program runs fine without it.

The plugin IS optional. ;)
