Actually you can. If you create your own "rdbms/database" and "rdbms/table"
mimetypes, then you can assign each of these a different icon - an they can
still work as directories. This is how the print io-slave works.

But I do think that on some occasions it may be useful to allow the io-slave
to produce a dialog. For instance io-slaves can produce a warning message -
which appears in a dialog - but if they send an info message,, it only gets
displayed in konquerors status bar.
