That's not correct. Qt 3.2.0 is binary compatible with Qt 3.1.x.
I only compiled Qt 3.2.0, I did not recompile anything in KDE, but I still 
have all the styles (e.g. keramik) available.

I think the solution are the different build options of KDE and Qt in your 
case.
E.g. you say jpeg is no longer working - that sounds like you used different 
configure options than before.

Qt matches the plugins against a build key. Only plugins with the same build-
key can be loaded.
