Subject:    is there any work being done to make artsd less resource hungry ?

Just wondering as arts seems to currently be the most intensive user of
cpu on my system.

Is there a reason that arts uses up 3 times the amount of cpu as top
when it isn't doing anything?

Note that I am not complaining I am just trying to understand why arts
when idle is using over 3% of cpu which is twice to three times the
nearest other process when it isn't doing anything and has been set to
go idle after 5 seconds.
