No, it redirects to another protocol (be it smb, fish or whatever) whenever a 
kio_file gets a non-local URL.

No. That's not a valid URL and that's not a valid Unix filename either. So it 
won't be supported. And you can't use forward slashes there because "//" in 
Unix is the same as "/", so it's a valid local filename.

However, the idea is to catch file://server/sharename/dir/file.txt.
