I had read this, but at that time didn' know where to set 
"KMediaPlayer/Engine". I feel ashamed :-).
Another problem occurs: 
 KService::Ptr kaboodle = KServiceTypeProfile::preferredService("audio/x-wav", 
"KMediaPlayer/Engine");
always returns 0.
When I' m using "KMediaPlayer/Player" it doesn't work either.
Only the use of "KParts/ReadOnlyPart" with "audio/x-wav" returns a service.

I looked into the directories $KDEDIR/share/services and 
$KDEDIR/share/servicetypes and the requested files kaboodle_component.desktop 
,kmediaplayer.desktop and kmediaplayerengine.desktop are there.

Any hints?
