But some distros don't and some users build KDE from scratch and still 
others don't even use Linux to begin with. If a distro wishes to pare 
down the menu they are free to do so, but I prefer having a menu that 
has all the KDE applications on it by default. 

Far more useful than taking a chainsaw to the menu is to make a more 
usable menu editor.
