Since the last update of kde (including to the latest qt-copy), I'm having
this problem:

The whole of my system completely freezes (I need to do a hard reset every
time) when I press a couple of keys in my keyboard in the laptop. These keys
are "Fn+UpArrow" or "Fn+DownArrow" which are used to change the contrast of
the screen in the laptop.

At first I thought this was a kernel issue, but KDE 3.1 (stable) runs just
fine, and I tested with several different kernels, with the same result.

I thought kwin could be the problem, but even after killing it the system
continues freezing.

Any ideas what could be causing this? It's becoming really annoying.
