Good idea.
But finally I managed to build it even with --enable-final.

Problem was with mixture of gcc 2.96 and gcc 3.0.4 (*both* were shipping with 
Mandrake 8.2, I installed 3.0.4 as OpenOffice.org wanted from me some gcc 3.x 
library)
I uninstalled gcc 3.0.4, and rebuild Qt 3.1, than kdelibs and kdebase, with 
gcc 2.96.  Now I have KDE 3.1-rc5 running  :-)

REQUEST to Release Dude:  shoudl we mention that KDE-3.1-RC5  can't be 
compiled with gcc 3.0.4?
README says that it can't be compiled with gcc 3.0.1. But I thought 
(initially) that GCC 3.0.4 should be ok, and spent too much time for nothing 
:-(

Than (I think) links should be fixed (on kde-3.1-beta2 announce page).
I know that we passed already 5 (five) RC's since 3.1-beta2 announce.
But imagine some new (unfamiliar with KDE) user comes, and tries to get 
binaries. And founds empty (invalid) link instead...
