I've done an implementation with KMetaFileInfo (not on cvs for the momment).
2 things :
  1/ The Idea seems greant, since I now could have only One object type per
     item and not as many as the number of types I have to manage.
  2/ The problem, th mp3 kfile-plugin does'nt support id3v2 tags, and thats
     annoying, for me it's really bad :/
     do you know if it would be implemented soon ?
