I have a start of a demo in java, but I kinda stalled on it when my
kdebindings broke. I have no clue on it because I have not had time to even
look at it as my time has been very tight for the last few weeks. Currently
all the demo does is opens a window and has a few buttons and a text input
box. I will tell you that Qt java blows the doors off of swing. I have been
very tempted to try a win32 build of it just to have a usable UI in java
there.

Basicly from what I have found is 75% of the java stuff is VERY strait
forward, and in most cases easier than C++. Signals and slots are a little
funky still, and there are quite a few gray areas for me on doing stuff with
kparts.

The python KDE stuff seems like it is really gaining steam too. It looks like
if things progress at the current rate by 3.1 we will be able to have kparts
and kickerapplets written in python too. I have seen word on the list too
that the guys are trying to wrap libkdegame too.

I think I should have the java howto done by .3.1 though, also I think gideon
is suppose to have extensive Java and Python support for Qt/KDE.
