Hi,
I really believe that putting konq in the kernel is a _VERY_BAD_ idea.
1.) People are trying to gain speed by outting as much as possible into the
kernel (ex. a httpd server) should we follow this tendency in several years
we will see kmail in the kernel, maybe kopete? Why should we load one app nto
the kernel and leave the others out, what benefits does it give me that
konqueror will load 2,5 sec and kmail 45 sec?
2.)KDE already has tremendous hardware requirements, which disqualify it in
the Central and Easter Europe, because peoples earnings are not high enough
for them to buy modern comuper (processor >800 mhz, >128 MB), windows is very
fast on that machines, but KDE is not. Trying to waste memory by putting
konqueror or any kde app there is not a very good idea.
3.)Not everyone uses linux! The idea of oss is feedom of choice, therefore we
have no right to bind kde user to linux just because we want konqueror to go
faster.
The idea should be to optimize and prelink the code as much as possible
without losing stability, not putting as much a possible into the kernel. I
am sure, that without resorting to this, we can make konqueror go much
faster. As for windows, ie is not loaded into the kernel, because you can
very well not install ie, and exchange explorer.exe for any other shell in
win.ini, so microsoft did not use go way and I do not hink we should either.
