... and the use of this feature is that you can get accented letters easily by 
typing ", followed by 'u' to get u-umlaut for example. Most localized layouts 
have specific keys for that, but in Holland it's mostly the US layout, which 
seriously benefits from an optional deadkeys scheme. It's soooooo easy to 
switch from coding-friendly to Dutch-friendly with kxkb sitting in your 
systray :-)
