I'd also like to see the two smb ioslaves behave the same way.  But there is 
some nice code in libsmbclient to detect all the workgroups- it's cool to 
type in smb:// and see all the available workgroups on your network.  It does 
give you more power to be able to switch workgroups without having to 
reconfigure the ioslave through kcontrol.

I think the redirection should be taken out so the smb ioslave can work in the 
tree views.  But, I'm ok if your way is done to keep backward's compatibility 
with the smbro ioslave.
