I guess I should rephrase that.  I do it at the same time as when I do a full 
rebuild.  Usually on sunday after the BC break.  The rational is that is when 
developers usally change large features that may break some of the settings.

I had this same problem last week and when I removed my prefs and the old 
kde3 install and rebuilt it all worked again.

And why would anyone be using KDE 3.0 cvs on a machine that they needed to 
get work done on anyway?  I mean if you are insane enough to think that you 
can do real work on a code base that is constantly shifting then you really 
should not mind losing your prefs once a week.  I understand the slushdot 
newbie fascination with running the latest and greatest but common, until KDE 
libs is frozen again, I would not have KDE 3.0 cvs installed on anything but 
a test box so I can try and help with this...

really i am very excited with KDE 3.0.  it really is starting to looks like 
something cool, at least in code :)
