so you might want to look at kdelibs/kio/http/http.cc

Look harder ;) There's a tutorial on http://developer.kde.org,
and another one that was linked on dot.kde.org, and there are the kio_file
and kio_ftp slaves as examples of real stat() implementations,
and kio_http for a simple "it's always a file" stat().
