Yes, { display: none } doesn't work in Konq. See Bug Report #29799 which I 
filed 26.07.01.
 
Besides, { display: marker },  { display: compact } and { display: run-in }
from CSS2 specs also do not work :-((

BTW: if you want just to hide images on your page, here is a workaround:
1) you can re-locate them to offscreen area (like style.left=-500px, 
style.top=-500px, assuming that image is less than 500px in size)

or
2) use style.visibility="hidden"
which also works in current HEAD CVS and in 2_2 branch
