i will explain what we did, so that you can judge by yourself:

before i started with the port, ralf habacker was having an eye on the qt
releases trolltech did. he took the GPL'ed sources of qt for x11 from their
public download server and put them into the cvs on kde-cygwin.sf.net. then
he added stuff, so that it worked under cygwin with the xfree86 server for
cygwin.
so no problems here.

then i started digging into the sources, and because i wanted to see how hard
it would be to "port" this to windows gdi, i simply started by copying the
*_x11* files to *_win* files, then i changed the makefiles to use these
files, and step by step i went through the files, commented out the x11
calls, which were doing stuff, and inserted the corresponding windows gdi
calls.

so i only worked on gpled sources and added stuff to it. all my stuff is under
the gpl. although i am not sure, if i looked through all the source files i
added, if they still have the original qt blurb on top, or if i changed it to
gpl only.

so i don't see any problem here.

but now i have a commercial license, so i stopped working on this, because i
have exactly the files i tried to create in the port in the original version
from the trolls.

so i don't see any problem, when you work on this, as long as you don't have
access to the *_win* files from trolltech.

Holger
