On Saturday 14 June 2003 12:07, Richard Lärkäng wrote: > > Hi, > > > > it is great that also other people are interested in this ;-) > > i originally started the port, but now i have a commercial qt > > license, so i > > can't work on this any more. > > ralf habacker is the "master of the cvs accounts". i am sure > > he reads this, > > and if not, please contact him in private mail. > > Ok, my account on sf is "larkang". > > Oh, and just so I'm sure, there are no legal problems with > this project right? > i will explain what we did, so that you can judge by yourself: before i started with the port, ralf habacker was having an eye on the qt releases trolltech did. he took the GPL'ed sources of qt for x11 from their public download server and put them into the cvs on kde-cygwin.sf.net. then he added stuff, so that it worked under cygwin with the xfree86 server for cygwin. so no problems here. then i started digging into the sources, and because i wanted to see how hard it would be to "port" this to windows gdi, i simply started by copying the *_x11* files to *_win* files, then i changed the makefiles to use these files, and step by step i went through the files, commented out the x11 calls, which were doing stuff, and inserted the corresponding windows gdi calls. so i only worked on gpled sources and added stuff to it. all my stuff is under the gpl. although i am not sure, if i looked through all the source files i added, if they still have the original qt blurb on top, or if i changed it to gpl only. so i don't see any problem here. but now i have a commercial license, so i stopped working on this, because i have exactly the files i tried to create in the port in the original version from the trolls. so i don't see any problem, when you work on this, as long as you don't have access to the *_win* files from trolltech.
