I should rephrase: I'm doing this for the users of a distro that either I use 
(and develop this for), or one in which they provide the backend, or one in 
which another volunteer writes a backend for.  If one of those conditions is 
not met, then this tool will not be included in the release for the platform.

That's exactly what I'm hoping for.  As a side-note, we already have a person 
who has volunteered for a FreeBSD backend.
