That makes perfectly sense IMO. In the e-mail thingy you provide basic 
information and you can refine it in kmail's own settings. What would be more 
important is that these places should be synced. When you enter your e-mail 
address in kmail, it should fill out (or ask whether you want to) this global 
email address as well. Let's name it "Primary email address". And maybe kmail 
should make note whether the user uses this primary email address (at least 
for the default profile) so that when the user changes the primary email 
address the email address used by kmail (at least for the default profile) 
should follow this change.

That's one the things that are poorly implemented at the moment. (We have the 
same problem with colors that only follow the color scheme as long as they 
haven't been saved, but once they have been saved they don't follow changes 
in the global color scheme any longer.)
