Pipelining commands you only wait for a response once total, instead of
waiting after each of the recipients.

Being able to specify the size of a message beforehand, so you'll be able
to tell if the server will accept it or not.

Being able to choose what kind of and how much error/status notification
you want back.

And by the looks of it.. 8-bit MIME encoding.
