Hiya,
Since Qt 2.1 provides support for jpeg, KDE has dropped its own support for
jpeg images. This only works if you TURN JPEG SUPPORT ON when compiling Qt.
To do this you need to pass '-system-jpeg' as option to Qt's configure
before compiling Qt.
That means you NEED to specify the following options when configuring Qt:
-sm -system-jpeg
In addition you might want to add:
-debug -system-zlib -system-libpng
