As I found out the KFileDialog does not append the selected extension to
the file. Therefore KWord adds *.kwd, the mimetype is KWord and the kwd
file gets saved. If one writes "test.txt" then it works!

The reason I cross-posted this on KDE-CORE ist that I wanted to ask if I
should change the KFD (to add the extension to the URL). Is there any
reason that this isn't done automatically?
