And that is exactly where I see the problem. Bugfixes a week _after_
release are a bit late, aren't they? Of course for us the bug will then
be fixed immediately but e.g. for the people buying SuSE 8.0 (which
will include KDE 3.0) those bugs most likely won't be fixed until SuSE
8.1 is released (Most people don't upgrade via ftp or whatever.). And
that means that they will have to live with those bugs for at least 6
months.

And that's a very good thing. So now that the API is finally stable
let's release a Beta 3 or a *real* *public* RC. IMO there wasn't enough
time to find and fix bugs which might have crept in after Beta 2.

Trust is good, but checking is better. Therefore I would prefer a public
RC. Because of some big changes which were made after Beta 2 KDE 3
hasn't really been tested by a lot of people. Normal users will find
bugs in places we never imagined existed. So let's give those users who
dare to test a RC the time to find those bugs and then after fixing the
bugs let's release a very stable KDE 3.0 which can be used by all of
our users for a long time with much content and without the need to
upgrade one or two weeks after the release.

Yes, thank you very much so far. But as you, Thomas, already said
yourself "it's not over yet".

Ingo
