And that is exactly where I see the problem. Bugfixes a week _after_=20 release are a bit late, aren't they? Of course for us the bug will then=20 be fixed immediately but e.g. for the people buying SuSE 8.0 (which=20 will include KDE 3.0) those bugs most likely won't be fixed until SuSE=20 8.1 is released (Most people don't upgrade via ftp or whatever.). And=20 that means that they will have to live with those bugs for at least 6=20 months. > The API however is going to be frozen for quite some time, this is > the main objective; a stable API. And that's a very good thing. So now that the API is finally stable=20 let's release a Beta 3 or a *real* *public* RC. IMO there wasn't enough=20 time to find and fix bugs which might have crept in after Beta 2. > I conclude that I like KDE3 to be released soon, its time to put our > baby into the world. Trust your co-developers to do what they like > and are good at; produce good code. Trust is good, but checking is better. Therefore I would prefer a public=20 RC. Because of some big changes which were made after Beta 2 KDE 3=20 hasn't really been tested by a lot of people. Normal users will find=20 bugs in places we never imagined existed. So let's give those users who=20 dare to test a RC the time to find those bugs and then after fixing the=20 bugs let's release a very stable KDE 3.0 which can be used by all of=20 our users for a long time with much content and without the need to=20 upgrade one or two weeks after the release. > Thank you Dirk. Yes, thank you very much so far. But as you, Thomas, already said=20 yourself "it's not over yet".
