Well, I _was_ going to add it to the "qt" interface -- but after seeing the 
code, and playing with it for about 20 minutes.. I've changed my mind :)

How about we add a cleaner second interface, like "app" or so, with useful 
functions like pid(), and anything else any of us can think of?
