I definitely want to keep DCOP out of the picture.  It would be _very_ 
inelegant to require that kab be running in order to query the address 
book from a browser interface.
I've never done any KParts programming.  Being that it's intended for desktop 
components, is it appropriate for data components?  And can the data of a 
single instance of a KPart component be shared among multiple applications?
