I've gotten shot by that as well. I was also amazed by that it is considered 
valid. It appears to be a "feature" for coping with macros(which can expand 
to nothing, hence a single semi colon is allowed). Basically, evilness leads 
to evilness. Perhaps there's another explanation to why this syntax is 
allowed.
