I disagree with your changes and after reading the thread I didn't 
really see an agreement. Only Havoc agreed for real (as they do the 
same in RH), the others were mainly suspicious and the most recommended 
solution was putting the applications belonging to the "Other" desktop 
to a category submenu. Aside of the problem that "NotShowIn=GNOME;" 
works just for GNOME and not another (3rd) desktop using XDG menus, 
thus your solution does not do the job, I find it a problem hiding apps 
from the users, forcing them to use the application provided by the 
active desktop environment and especially doing such a change without 
an agreement from the maintainer.
