That's what we said with Kopete 0.7.3 too. And look: 0.7.4 was released with 
only 1 bugfix (a small MSN protocol change), while we could have shipped 
0.7.4 with several more bugfixes...

It doesn't hurt to backport fixes and it helps those people who want the 
stablest KDE out there.
