Ah, just managed to trigger it by unplugging and replugging my external monitor
a few times (slowly, letting it recover from each change). So I don't think its
likely the post-hibernation memory decay issue hypothesized above.

However, I would like to confirm that disabling/re-enabling compositing does
indeed fix it here as well. My problem previously was that you can't toggle
compositing from the lockscreen, which is what I had enabled
post-dehibernation.

I'm using a Quadro K3000M NOT using Optimus BTW if that helps.
