This is a very useful ability. Screenlets has it as well. You choose in each
specific screenlet to behave as widget and then it dissapears from your
desktop. Then with F9 you make it visible again. Very useful if yo don't want
to fill your desktop with plasmoids. For example I don't need to see the clock
and the date all the time. Like this you can have them in the background and
with a key combination bring them on just to check the time and date and then
with cick or F9 again they dissapear. Very practical.
