Summary: Cannot reposition kdesktop_lock unlocking widget
Product: kde
Version: 3.5
Platform: Debian stable
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs@kde.org
ReportedBy: reidac@bellatlantic.net
Version: (using KDE 3.5.9)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian stable Packages
In multi-monitor set-ups, particularly those using the NVidia "TwinView"
scheme, the default behavior of kdesktop_lock when unlocking the screen is to
place the unlocking widget in the center of the virtual screen. For a
two-monitor set-up, this places the widget across the "seam" or "gap" between
the monitors.
I would like to be able to reposition this widget. The KDM greeter widget has
position settings in its config file which control its position. At a minimum,
I suggest that settings be added to the $KDEROOT/share/config/kdesktop_lockrc
file to allow repositioning of the unlocking widget, either in
percent-of-extent units or pixel units, similar to what is already possible
with the KDM greeter.
Ideally, a unified scheme for "hinting" aspects of the virtualized-away
underlying screen geometry to KDE would be nice.
