puh, I think we all know what it means, and I'd also say it's quite common. Ok
it's not a valid expression from the grammatical point of view I guess...

I think it depends on how close we want to be with the original.

e.g. wie could say something like "(Gerade )Nichts zu tun", "Kein laufender
(Runter-)Zähler/Countdown".

(I've to admit that I basicly use this timer for pizza, maybe we could propose
a namechange and make it an universal pizza-tea-cokkie-timer and get rid of the
running tea this way :D )
