I added some checks for a gift installation and disable the indexing GUI if the gift \
is not found. Also there will pop up an error message in case gift *is* installed, \
but indexing fails for some reason.

Note that the little help button in the indexing GUI already contains a reference to \
the "GNU Image Finding Tool".

I cannot reproduce your crash though, and looking at the code and your backtrace, I \
can't see anything wrong either. So, I regard this as an installation issue unrelated \
to the code.

If you think this is not an installation issue, I need some more input, e.g.
the output of
valgrind konqueror mrml://localhost
until the crash happens.
