I can reproduce the error( tho one about zero bytes..) by de-activateing the \
<dir>/usr/local/share/fonts</dir> line from both the /etc/fonts/fonts.conf and \
/etc/fonts/local.conf I am curious to see if this a Fedora only issue. If you get a \
similar error, look at the processor usage. As long as the <dir> line in present in \
one(doesn't matter which one) or both files, i have no problems installing/deleteing.

As for the segmentation fault: i traced it to a corrupt fontfile: martlett.ttf
Don't know how it got corrupted, but when i put it in the .fonts directory, kfontinst \
-x /root/.fonts gives a segmentation fault. If i take it out, all is well. Regarding \
bug #124007 i have no problems viewing non-installed fonts in konqeror's "preview" \
and kfontview, i think i never did, not even when fedora5 was just 4 days old.
