What do the following produce:

1. kfontinst -x <folder where you placed the font>
2. kfontinst -f <folder where you placed the font>

...i.e. do any of these hang? If the first does, then do either of the folowing also \
hang:

1. mkfontscale <folder where you placed the font>
2. mkfontdir <folder where you placed the font>

Is <folder where you placed the font> listed in /etc/X11/xorg.conf? Is it, or one of \
its parent folders (eg. /usr/local is the parent of /usr/local/x), listed in \
/etc/fonts/local.conf, or /etc/fonts/fonts.conf?
