If I did not appreciate your efforts, would I be bothering with KMail instead of, \
indeed, going away and using something else? Not only do I use it, my parents do, as \
well as my significant other's grandmother from one side and grandfather from \
another.
As a user and a support person of several years, I'm telling you again -- KMail is \
still lousy. The most recent release -- 3.3 -- crashes more often than the previous \
one did. This is not the case of other major KDE components, so something is wrong \
with the development strategy and/or approach. May it be the untouchable egos of some \
highly sensitive developers?
kio_*imap's tendency to get stuck in cases of intermittent connectivity (or even \
without it) is lousy. KMail's inability to detect such situations, requiring manual \
killing of the process, is lousy. The problem, I just reported is a new lousiness, \
that I never saw with earlier releases.
C++ is not my thing, so don't expect patches from me, but it does not take a CS major \
to recognize a buggy piece of software, however shiny.
