Hi,

I doubt its Kate's fault.  NFS is just no good.

First: INSURE YOUR CLOCKS ARE SYNCHRONIZED.

next, insure both machines are running the same version of NFS

Use unix networking's "rsh" instead of NFS.  Or if you can't handle rsh, use
samba - samba is better than NFS (but rsh and rsync are better, Gnome's file
manager uses any of the above).

I urge you not to use NFS.  It isn't ok for compiling - it causes compiles to
fail and corrupt.  If its in your kernel it will cause complete unix lockups. 
It will at least cause long pauses due to its assinine locking features.  It
isn't very secure.

EVERY BIG UNIX APP OUT THERE HAS ISSUES WITH NFS
