It has taken me a few days to rebuild KDE from scratch with the latest CVS - 
but having put --enable-debug on kdebase I have had two overnight attempts to 
reproduce the fault and neither of them have succeeded (ie neither times have 
kicker failed to re-appear).

Since I could almost guarentee the problem previously I am inclined to think 
that either its no longer a problem following your changes of about a week 
ago, or the --enable-debug has an effect on the timing that changes 
behaviour.

I will rebuild kdebase without the --enable-debug and try one more time
