Actually not, at least for most other people it doesn't crash.
Most likely there is something wrong with either the SuSE rpms or you 
installation.

Do you possibly still have these broken i686 RPMs installed SuSE distributed 
together with KDE 2.2?
At least I don't know, where this information comes from:
OS/Compiler notes: i686

Anyway, as long as you don't compile KDE yourself with debug information 
enabled, there is not much I can do about the problem.
