Hi,

I tried to find an algorythm to make an outline. With such a thing, it would
be possible to add outlines to icons with a script. It's not perfect, but
this gets you an outline:

With the gimp:

 - add transparent border 1 pixel ( look at the links below for a script for
this)
 - duplicate layer
 - choose background layer to work on, the other not visible
*
 - select - color, fuzziness threshold 255
 - click anwhere in the image
 - select grow 1 pixel
 - fill black
 - select shrink 1 pixel
 - edit clear (now you should have an outline)
 - make upper layer visible
 - select all

*: option to change to image-mode-indexed to get rid of transparency. Change
back to rgb for the fill.

The outline will have corners that are too "heavy". Here the algorythm stops,
repairing that can only be done by hand. Works best indexed, but then you
loose the transparency.

Note the new icon is too big. Icons should be rendered to 2 pixel smaller
sizes for this to work.

Now if only the gimp had a recorder...

Attached the crystal folder, with outline and with repaired outline.

Cordialemente,

Ante
