sorry to butt in where i'm undoubtedly not wanted, but i've been following 
this conversation with some concern. call me weird, but i think the icons in 
kde 2.2 are beautiful and a lot nicer than any of the icons in these other 
alternatives. hell, one of the biggest reasons i use kde is cos it is so damn 
cute.
there seems to be a movement in kde towards the jelly bean style icons in xp 
which i find quite disturbing (particularly the log out/lock screen icons). 
really, what is so wrong with the current icons that there is a need to 
'compete' with these other products? personally i think the others are having 
trouble competing with kde.

hoping that someone might actually agree with me here :)
