Hi Doreen,

I don't know if RedHat has the same smart startx script, but with SuSE you can
specify the desktop or the windowmanager as a commandline argument:

startx kde
startx gnome
startx enlightenment
startx icewm

and so on.

From your post I assume that you're using a graphical login. IIRC there was (
is ? ) a little bug in RedHat's admin tool, that lets you decide which display
manager / default desktop you want. Maybe an other RedHat user can clarify this?
