Hi, Patrick,
I know I am late, but maybe I can still help. I am using the alsa sound
driver on my acer laptop without any problem. However, I run "kmix", which
works perfectly with the alsa sound drivers, instead of the alsa mixer.
Channels are muted by default when I start the mixer, but later on they are
not remuted. I am unsure whether this is due to kmix or the fact that I am
always listening to music for a longer time, so that the sound modules do not
get unloaded again. Anaway, you might want to give it a try.
Best regards,
Andreas
