I just installed and had the same problem. Given your response from the
terminal I think you might have the same problem. To fix it, undeeeer the
Modem tab, there is a Modem commands button. Click it, and on the Edit Modem
Commands window at the bottom the is three field next to Volume off/low/high.
I change the first field in that row to Q0 and I could connect. It worked for
me, so you may want to give it a try.
