It comes down to both KDE and Gnome not having a fully functional office
suite at the moment. Koffice is alpha and I indeed haven't seen a 1.0 of
goffice or whatever Gnome's equivalent is..

I guess we'll always have the KDE/Gnome wars though. For some reason pushing
the other project down in favor of own efforts is more popular than
respecting the other team. Linux/BSD wars never ended as well.

Frankly I don't care which desktop someone uses. I recommend KDE to Windows
mutants because of the similarity and because (IMHO) KDE is a bit further
than Gnome is at the moment. But I also encourage everyone to try out both
(if not more DE's/WM's) and make up their own mind.

Which doesn't mean I won't be one of the first to celebrate once Koffice
compiles for the masses.
