Hi,

The RC releases are generally meant as distro Q/A releases. It gives
the distros a chance to test what has made it through the user beta
testing and make sure it works well on their systems. Therefore the
schedule is more expedited than beta releases. In this case, the 3.0
release may be tagged as early as tomorrow. That means, in turn, to
have the hope of any user testing, we need to announce the release
before the packages have all been uploaded and mirrored (the usu. 1-week
period for building packages for betas is reduced to 3 days for
announcing RC releases).

So, check every so often for updates, I know that RedHat packages are
done but due to master's downtime yesterday they were not uploaded;
Conectiva packages are being uploaded as we speak; Debian is making
packages but they use their own method for distribution; Mandrake is a
bit behind b/c of their 8.2 release which just came out; and Tru64 is
having some trouble with the new libtool (exactly the type of issue the
RCs are meant to address).

Ciao,

Dre
